Happy Veteran's Day!

"It's easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you. This nation will remain the land of the free only so long as it is the home of the brave."
Thank you, Veterans.

Here are some videos in honor of Veteran's Day. You might want to have some tissues handy...some of the videos are real tear jerkers!

These next videos show dogs welcoming home soldiers. It's so true how dogs are man's best friend. We can really learn a lot from dogs. The loyalty, compassion, and unconditional love dogs have for their owners is pretty amazing. (Can you tell that I'm a dog lover? You won't understand how attached you can get to a dog unless you have one.)

☆ Okay, that is all.

Engrish and Funny Signs from Japan

☆So, I recently came back from a trip to Japan. It was awesome and I crammed a lot of things into the short amount of time I was there. There were so many interesting things to see and do in Japan and I can't wait to go back. I took a lot of pictures and here are a few that I would like to share.

Japan has a bunch of signs and advertisements everywhere and sometimes you'll find some of the signs translated into English so that foreigners, like me, can understand what is being said. However, I've noticed that a lot of these signs get lost in translation and are actually pretty funny. Here are some of the "Engrish" signs that I saw (and some others that I thought were pretty neat).

☆ Okay, so I saw this first sign at Ajinomoto Stadium when I was there watching a J-League soccer game.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: Cheer for your team to score a goal??

☆ I found this sign on the door of some building.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: Please smoke outside in the smoking section (or not)???

☆ Here is a sign I found at a buffet.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: Tomato soup with zucchini and "pork" dumplings???

☆ Here is another sign I found at a buffet.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: Sorry we ran out of this dish; please wait while we prepare some more???

☆ Here is a sign that I found at Mt. Fuji.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: Be careful because a cigarette is held at the height of a child's face???

☆ Here is another sign that I found at Mt. Fuji. Note how even the diagram doesn't make sense!
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: I have NO idea what this sign is trying to convey. All I know is that if it was my home, I wouldn't be so calm. Haha!

☆ Here is a clothing tag that I found on the inside of this tank top. This cracked me up!
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: I think that it's suppose to be knockoff of FRUIT OF THE LOOM???

☆ I saw a lot of clothes with a bunch of English words that just did not make sense.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: ????

☆ Here is a sign that I found in Harajuku. Notice the first and third parts of this sign.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: The first one should say NO SMOKING. As for the third one...NO TOUCH??? I don't know.

☆ Here is a sign that I found in a 100 yen shop.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: DON'T OPEN!!! hehe.

☆ Here is another sign that I found in a 100 yen shop.
Their translation:
Photobucket
My interpretation: I'll let you interpret what this is saying. :)

☆ These next couple of signs are not Engrish signs, but are signs that I found interesting.

☆ Hmmm...where shall we meet....??
Photobucket

...at the meeting place, of course!!
Photobucket

☆ This sign sounds like pigeon. Where's the steps for go down?
Photobucket

☆ Here is a T-shirt. Instead of PUMA, you got PANDA.
Photobucket

☆ Here's another T-shirt. Instead of PUMA, you got PAMA. FYI, pama means perm in Japanese. Notice the PUMA with a perm?? haha.
Photobucket

☆ McDonald's has some intersting food. The Shaka Shaka Chicken was pretty good and the McPork was okay according to my sister.
Photobucket

☆ As you can see, Japan has some very interesting signs. It makes me wonder sometimes who is doing all the translating. If you can better translate any of these signs or have a better interpretation as to what you think they mean, let me know. Funny Doggy Paddle

☆ This is a funny and cute video of my dogs. I guess it's a reflex or something, but if you hold them over water, they think that they are swimming and start to paddle. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do! (^_^)

Spray Paint Art

Sometime ago, I saw a street performer in Waikiki creating some awesome paintings with spray paint. It looked like fun and I wanted to give it a try. Although these aren't as nearly nice as the paintings this guy made, I think they look pretty cool. These "works of art" were done by my sister, my friend, and myself.

☆ Here are the abstract paintings that I made.

Swimming With Sharks

Last July, I had the opportunity to go swimming with some sharks in Haleiwa. After getting over the initial shock of getting into shark infested water (although I was safe in a cage), it was one of the most coolest things I have ever done. You all should try it!

☆ Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, that started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship.
Photobucket

☆ The mate was a mighty sailing man, the skipper brave and sure, five passengers set sail that day, For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.
Photobucket

☆ The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed, if not for the courage of the fearless crew
The Kainani would be lost, the Kainani would be lost. Haha!
Photobucket

☆ Here is the cage and the crew of the boat. A section of the cage did not have any bars and had plexi glass instead. It was neat because it looked as if the sharks could swim right into the cage. It was a little scary because my hands and feet slipped through the bars on several occasions, but I was assured that these sharks were "friendly."
Photobucket

☆ Here is the view from up top. Look at all those sharks!!

☆ Almost time to get it!

Photobucket

☆ Chum in the water to attract the sharks.

☆ These are the beautiful Gallapagos sharks. These sharks have never attacked a human before in the history of shark attacks. Most shark attacks are from Bull sharks, Tiger sharks, and Great Whites. See, I learned stuff on this tour too!! =]

☆ This guy was crazy. He obviously was not afraid and even touched some of the sharks. (See video below.)

☆ A rare sighting of the infamous tiger shark. It was huge! Too bad we weren't in the cage when it came by.
Photobucket

☆ Here is my favorite pic out of the bunch.

☆ Here is the video I took. It's a little dark, but you can kind of see what I saw.
